Real Estate Counsel, Four Corners Property Trust (FCPT), Mill Valley, Marin County
Our client, FCPT, is a publicy-traded, $2 billion REIT that has a dynamic start-up environment with the backing and stability of a well-capitalized public company.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment within a small team (corporate office has ~20 employees) and ready to take on multiple roles and responsibilities within the legal department. The position will report to the General Counsel, but will have significant direct interaction with the company’s CEO and investment team. Over the previous four years, the Company has acquired more than 300 individual properties.
This position will be primarily responsible for the legal matters in connection with the acquisition and disposition of real property assets (primarily triple net stand-alone properties), as well as handling property management legal matters, including drafting and negotiating leases, amendments, easements and other similar documents. The position will also be responsible for direct interaction with tenants and vendors on property-related matters, as well as working with the internal property management and accounting teams on any legal matters related to the properties.
While no prior experience with net lease or REITs is required, it is necessary for the Real Estate Counsel to have a strong passion for learning all aspects of the business and becoming part of the team. The successful candidate will possess the following credentials and experience:
- Law degree from a top law school and 4-10 years of law firm and/or in-house experience
- Significant experience with all stages of a real estate transaction including NDAs, LOIs, drafting and negotiating purchase agreements, reviewing title, survey, leases and other diligence matters required
- Experience in commercial leasing, including drafting and negotiating, extension & renewal, renovation, amendments and termination agreements preferred
- Experience with multi-parcel development, including drafting and negotiating, CC&Rs, easements and related agreements a plus
